The content will have to go away as if it is copied and pasted into a new page, that will eventually outrank the product page again. You can make a new blog post that links to the product page as long as the content is unique and fresh.
Product pages should be updated with content frequently. Common FAQs customers have, material breakdown, use cases on how to get the best out of the product, life cycle estimates and analysis, customer reviews, pictures of the product in action, etc.
Focus on the highest profit margin products first to get the best ROI for your efforts and then move downward. Content on product pages should be updated regularly, every month or twice per month if possible.
